ewjordan: I see no reason why this wouldn't compile with the command line compiler. How are you calling it?

If you're willing to plunk down a few dollars, you can always go with FDT http://fdt.powerflasher.com/index.php?page=download

Or you can go open source instead with FlashDevelop http://www.flashdevelop.org/community/index.php

Both of them integrate with the command line compiler, so you don't need to worry about it.

Yes. Despite the name "mxmlc", the compiler is not actually tied to mxml or any of the Flex framework.

@intoxopox: 1.4.3 should be out in a few more days, I'm a bit swamped with other work at the moment, and there's quite a bit to change.
Thanks for the file, I'll have to go through it with a file compare tool and look at your changes as I'm already in the middle of updating to 1.4.3.
I've had a few people offer their help, but I'm not really sure how to go about managing it, when I've got a bit more time, I'll try to set up the SVN repository properly and look in to sorting all that out.

@NathanBatson: I'm looking at doing some more examples to possibly include with the next release, this would include a 'hello world' type example, and some more Flash oriented examples using movieclips for objects.

@Andrew Traviss: Thanks, I'll let you know when I've got something organized.

@mike950: Few more days, bit busy, lots to change. (:

@ewjordan: I agree about adding a utility layer, I'd like to keep Box2D completely intact if possible.

Thanks everyone, and I apologize for the delayed responses and taking so long with 1.4.3.
-Matt

Ohh..I didn't mean to be pushy :). I just got excited that so many people were
willing to help out! But it's amazing how you're never more than one version
behind the c++ and it always works! Really impressive and very appreciative.

Thanks for the advice - turns out the download that I had wasn't set up to be independent of the .fla, as per viewtopic.php?f=4&t=138 - downloaded the "fixed" version and mxmlc does just fine. I'm very pleased, can't wait to start playing around with it.

rje: Very nice, I've always liked that demo. Your example inspired me to put together a big nasty one (20 stories!) in Java: http://www.jbox2d.org/demos/dominotower.html

Doubt if many computers will run that at a full 60 fps, though...(actually, the timestep is 120 hz for stability, but the framerate is 60 because I was lazy and forgot to change it)

The Chipmunk demo at http://files.slembcke.net/chipmunk/movies/smash.mov has 30 stories...not sure if that actually runs at full speed on most computers, but it's a very pretty movie...
