I've updated JBox2D. While I haven't seen the null appear again, I do still occasionally get some sort of infinite loop in world.step(). The method executes, and never finishes. Given that I don't have control over what world.step() does, I don't see anything I can do about it.

No, wait, I have seen the random null again. Been a while and doesn't happen often, but it's still there.
