I might make a test-bed to make sure all the features work as they should, then I guess I'll upload the source somewhere for anyone that wants it.

Hey, nice work. I was also planning a port (I was going to try the Chipmunk port). Are you going to release the source?

Sorry for the late response rje.

I haven't had time to put a testbed/demo together yet, and there's still a couple optimizations to do, so I'm not ready to release it just yet.
If you would like the source code as it is (with just one messy demo), it's fully functional and updated to 1.4.1, I'd be happy to send it to you if you want to throw me a PM.

Regarding the release, what do people typically do with ports? Should I just put it on sourceforge and post about it in some flash forums? I don't think I'd want to set up a website or my own forums, don't want to take any credit for Erins awesome work (: and I could just point users here for support (and of course the Box2D donation page).
Also, do I need to worry about the license, or will the current Box2D license carry over? The notice is still at the top of all the source files, should I also include License.txt?

Look forward to getting this out and seeing Box2D in some flash games. :D

Cheers.
-Matt

You don't need to include the License.txt, that is just there to cover everying besides the C++ source files.

I recommend you include your own zlib license for the port. I also recommend using Source Forge or Google Code to host your project. It may take you an hour or so to set it up, but I think it is worth the effort.

Finally, here's Box2DFlashAS3 1.4.2 with some demos (:

Let me know if there's any problems or if you have any suggestions.

Cheers.

Can you make it as fast as the c++ version? just kidding! :)
Very nice! Thanks for porting it and making it available to all.
Can't wait to start using it.

Very nice! I may actually take another stab at Flash after seeing how well this runs - I like Java and C a lot, but as far as website deployment C is DOA and Java has awful integration. And now it looks like they really beefed up the plugin and the language (haven't used it since AS1), so that's great. I was hoping it would happen eventually.

Great work, can't wait to see what people do with it!

Hi skatehead.

I just found this really cool port of Box2D and made some tests. Before i played around with the APE engine and i was curious what the difference is.
Box2dFlash seems to run better and faster. Good Job!
I just realised that the code isn't really flash standard - no offence. You really made a good job. So i packed everything in better packages, cleaned some things, added things like ";" behind lines where they were missing etc. Now everything is a bit more flash conform but still not perfect.
Just give me a note if you are interested. Don't want to post it here. Not sure if i have the rights doing it.

Ah and one tip: FDT has published their newest version of a eclipse-plugin for developing AS3
http://fdt.powerflasher.com.
And as opensource developer they offer you a free copy:
http://fdt.powerflasher.com/index.php?page=os
Its the best solution of coding AS at the moment.

So just give me a note and i will be happy to help you with some of the stuff.
And thanks for this port.

Vincent
