Low-overhead AABB

I'm making a game that will use Box2D for some effects, but will be primarily tile-based. I'm wondering, since I'm using mostly static AABB's of the same size for tiles, is there a way to increase performance?

Taking out any interior tiles that cannot be interacted with might help. Ideally, you could try something like this: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=9359
