Re: Need some benchmarks

they will never be identical due to different optimization of float math in the FPU.

you can set up a delta error, or try forcing the use of IEEE 754. then we can help you, because jbox has been proved deterministic on different machine "shutting down" float optimization and using IEEE 754.

jbox2d+ asincronous LWJGL

We are trying to unify the asynchronous graphic thread to jbox2d. Because I don't want to copy all the body position ant then send them to graphics is synchronous mode, I have taken a reference to the transform of every body and set it to the relative graphic entity, so the Transform data is share. ...

Hi,
i see in the new release of jbox there is Protobuffers dependency. Can you tell me why it is used? are object automagically serialized?
I want try to stream the object on network using the java NIO and this can be really helpful

Re: Can JBox2d be deterministic?

here the code i've written so far. It is a netbeans project, it should be plug-n-play, or you can find the dependencies in the lib folder. it will run 10 step on 2 asincronous world, and then check the result of the first world with a preloaded file. if you can test it on your machine and post resul...

Re: Performance

well the easiest way is to use a basic shape for monster, like a circle. probably nobody will notice the difference, unless you want things like head-shot and so on..

Re: Body setLinearVelocity() - SPEED

first of all i don't think you should use setLinearVelocity, but you shoul ude applyImpulse or applyForce, or you will get strange result.

as i can say, you are taking "b" 's X velocity and appling it to "body", and setting a fixed velocity of -20 on the Y axies.

Re: Can JBox2d be deterministic?

ok, it was a my fault, i used wrong variable as timestep in the second world, and also i was using reference to position instead of a copy to check the determinism. now it seems to work(on the same machine, 2000 step and is ok)
